Back in late July 2006 Dr. Cole performed a density study that tested various grafted densities in regular triangular patterns. Here is a link to initial article and study: http://www.forhair.com/hairtransplant/viewtopic.php?t=984

In short, 2 rows of cm2 boxes where grafted into with single hair leg grafts to the monitor the 5 follow densities: 24g/cm2, 30g/cm2, 36g/cm3, 42g/cm2 and 49g/cm2. One row was oriented in the lateral plane and the other the sagittal plane.

At 4.5 months post op we were able to get some photos of our test subject. Several phenomena are observable at this early stage. Firstly, the sagittal row of boxes experience faster growth than the coronal rows. Secondly, the leg hairs grafted at 24-36 grafts per cm2 have responded better than the leg hair grafted at 42-49 grafts per cm2. This was true with both that sagittal and lateral rows. A purple marker was used to box the 42g/cm2 and 49g/cm2 areas in the most recent photos.

While it is still early, it is clear that our test subject
